What is Body Stress Release?
Body Stress Release literally means: releasing body tension.
Body Stress Release: a gentle technique
Body stress release is for people of all ages, healthy or ill. Even babies can have pent-up tension. Body Stress Release is a gentle technique that helps with many physical and mental symptoms that are the result of built-up stress in the body. This stress creates a constant tension for the muscles. Underlying nerves can become pinched because of this and cause pain.
By sending signals such as pain signals or fatigue, our body tries to tell us that we need to stop overexerting ourselves. Rest is needed to process the excess tension so that the body can recover itself again.
If, however, we don’t take that rest and decide to ignore the signals, multiple layers of tension often develop. In this case, the body can no longer resolve the stress by itself and Body Stress Release can provide a solution.
Body stress comes from:
Physical overload
- an incorrect posture at work
- a (sports) injury
- a traffic accident
- a fall
- incorrect lifting of heavy objects
Mental overload
- extreme anger
- shock
- grief
- stress
- depression
- burn-out of other emotional and psychological stress
Chemical overload
- artificial colourings and flavourings
- cosmectics
- perfume
- medication
- paint
- alcohol

Stress release
“Body Stress Release initiates a process of
releasing tension and healing.”
The treatment
After we’ve met and I have been able to map out exactly what your symptoms and /or questions are, we can work on your healing process together.
During the consultation, called ‘release,’ you will lie down on a BSR table while remaining fully clothed. Through testing, pent-up muscle tension is localised. Your body itself provides the necessary information here via the so-called biofeedback mechanism. This means that when there is pent-up tension, your body responds with small muscle reflexes that can be detected. This allows for a very accurate way of determining which releases you need. What makes this method effective is the fact that it doesn’t require any subjective interpretation from you or me.
Once it is clear where tension is stored, the body is stimulated with light, precise manual impulses to release muscle tension. Even a very gentle, properly placed impulse can reach the deepest muscle layer without forcing or damaging anything. Thanks to these impulses, the body can release the tension layer by layer which will eventually restore the body’s resilience.
To start your body’s healing process in the best possible way, we make 3 appointments at once. This is because after the first releases, there will be changes in your body that require a new release. This way, your healing process gets a powerful start. The first three appointments preferably take place on day 1, day 4 and day 11. How many treatments are needed after this varies per person. If body stress appeared recently, the release process usually goes quite fast. If, however, body stress has been present for a while, more consultations are needed. BSR is not a quick-fix; releasing is a natural process. Body Stress Release is based on the body’s ability to heal itself.

Body Maintenance
To prevent new muscle tension from settling in, regular releases are recommended. Think of it as an MOT for your body; a body free of body stress is energetic and functions optimally.
Body Stress Release practitioners do not diagnose or treat conditions or diseases. We solely focus on locating and releasing stored tension, which will stimulate your body’s self-healing ability.
